(315) 457-0325
.What you need to know:
A soil group worksheet lists the soil types you have on your property and tells how many acres of each soil group you have. Your assessor will use this worksheet, along with the rest of your application, to help them determine your tax exemption.
Price: $30.00
The Agricultural Districts Law provides for reduced property tax bills for land in agricultural production by limiting the assessment of such land to its prescribed agricultural assessment value. Owners whose land satisfies the eligibility requirements may apply for an agricultural assessment.
The Onondaga County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) completes Soil Group Worksheets (SGW) for landowners applying for an Agricultural Assessment. There is a $30.00 charge for each parcel. To begin this process please call 315-457-0325, and have a copy of your current tax bill (for each parcel) available.
Once the SWCD completes the SGW you will be notified by phone that your worksheet is ready for pick-up. At pick-up you will have a chance to review the worksheet with a staff member, and then sign the form. The landowner can then send the soil map and SGW along with the rest of their agricultural assessment application to their town assessor.
For more information please contact your Town Assessor or visit the Office of Real Property Services.
